My Project
The days are growing shorter and the nights are getting longer. There's a chill in the air that can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. The leaves are falling and the trees can cut an eerie silhouette in the moonlight. What was that noise? Was it something ordinary...or unnatural? As the autumn arrives, there's nothing better to give you that fun little fright than being able to read the stories that can make you shudder. Comic books can provide that feeling just as well.
I want to give my students the chance to dive into spooky stories from both the classic world of literature and more modern tales of superheroes and the supernatural.
Stories like Swamp Thing by Alan Moore will have readers questioning the very idea of what it means to be human. The Sandman by Neil Gaiman will have students dissecting their own dreams...and their nightmares. The classic tales of Dracula, Frankenstein, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde will take on a new form as students will not only be able to consume these legendary stories but, with the addition of artwork, can see these stories come to life!
Providing these stories for my students will not only help to give them a Halloween treat but it will also encourage them to seek out other examples of literature that have made readers quiver and shiver for decades.
