Creature Comforts Help Us Focus

My Project

My first-grade students are active and excited about learning. They count on the school to provide them with a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Having their own refillable water bottle will help increase the amount of time students will spend focused on instruction.

They get thirsty during the long school day and will be able to stay hydrated and focused on their learning without going back and forth to the fountain. In addition, they really look forward to an afternoon snack. That snack provides an essential comfort that helps them refocus on our last hours of instruction.

The students will use the pocket folders for a writing resource folder. We will put an individual "word wall" in the clear front pocket and other spelling and letter resources inside. The Tattle Tongue book is a favorite read-aloud. The new copies will make it so we can also add them to our class library.
