Help me give my students a S.T.E.M and Visual Arts Show that will showcase the work they've done throughout the year. The rolling racks will be draped with paper & display their art.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Throughout the year, our focus in S.T.E.M has been to make science and engineering an affordable and accessible opportunity through the lens of sustainability.
Many of the items students create are repurposed materials that would otherwise go to a landfill.
This perspective fosters creativity and prompts students to spend less and conserve more. In our classroom, students consistently donate to our inventory with items they find within their home or community, such as cardboard tubes, boxes, egg cartons, milk cartons, food pouch caps, wood pallets and more. From these items students have built paper rollercoasters, paper windmills, pulley space shuttles, floral paper lanterns, topographic models and habitat trioramas.
In June, students from kindergarten through 5th grade will display their work in our school's first Creators & Innovators Showcase. We intend to use the garment racks as portable room dividers/ art displays; allowing groups of students to prep displays prior to the show.
