Help me give my students basic art supplies of washable watercolors, watercolor paper pads, and snacks to let their creativity flow in art sessions while we continue our distance learning together.
My students are in the Mandarin Dual Language Program. During normal school days, they spend half of their day in an English speaking classroom with me, and the other half of the day in a Mandarin speaking classroom with their second teacher. We are a Title I school in a low-income community and many of our families are first generation immigrants making their children as English Language Learners (ELLs). All of our students at school receive free breakfast and lunch meals every school day. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the current distance learning has been challenging. Some families may not even know where and how to get access of remote meals. They would benefit greatly from resources like art materials, and snacks for them to use and enjoy at home, all to help increase their success during our new learning platform.
My students are good students that can be described as hard-workers whom thrive to learn and do everything in both English and Mandarin.
They are creative and very enthusiastic about learning, especially about arts. The majority of my students are easily motivated to do their best work when I provide them with snacks as incentives!
My Project
Since the starts of this awful Covid-19 crisis, learning has been very different and even more challenging from regular school. I miss all of my students! We had fun learning, doing work, and we enjoyed doing art projects together. We're all in distress from screen time learning and handling other things in this so-called "new normal." I would like to supply my students with some non-screen activities as well as with snacks they can enjoy during this ordeal.
I have selected a few things that my students would love during their off screen time: watercolors sets and watercolors paper pads; they can draw, let their creative sparks, and carry them wherever their imagination take them.
I have also selected snacks and a box of Cheerios cereal, orange juice, and pretzel sticks they would enjoy. I also have chosen paper bags to put all the items together for my students, as it will be easier for them to pick up in front of the school. For those who can't pick up, I will deliver to their house. Thank you so much for your generosity and support especially during this tough situation. Very much appreciated!
