Creativity Is STEM's Secret Sauce, Spice It Up With Robots.

Help me give my students some amazing STEM materials including coding robots and several models to help them become more familiar with STEM fields, materials, and concepts.

My Project

I work at a small school where the children thrive on hands-on and interactive learning. They are very creative and often enjoy things like projects where they can let their creativity shine through. Over 75% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch so these materials will allow them the opportunity to use or see things they might not normally get to. Several of these materials will help the students implement their creativity into their learning. The coding robots will help them with their critical thinking skills such as "this is what I want it to do in the end" how do I get it to do that, so starting with an end result and figuring out the steps they need to take to get that end result.

These materials will help the students gain a deeper knowledge of things they normally can't see, such as the inside of the human body, cellular mitosis, static electricity in action, and how robots work.

Many of our supplies that are similar are very old and in poor or broken condition. Our mitosis slides are essentially disintegrated because they are so old, many of the models are missing pieces.

Many of our students haven’t had an opportunity to work with these kinds of materials in the past, so these materials would be appreciated and well used. The kids will love these materials as they can touch and manipulate them vs. just a projection that can’t be taken apart or manipulated.

These materials will also help the children learn about things they haven’t before, and may lead them towards more career options. We also have students that want to go into STEM careers in the future, this will help them get more comfortable with materials they may see in the future.
