My students need markers, paint and storage bins so that they can paint during our creative station at the art easel and so that they can have a spot for books.

My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, where 100% of my students receive free lunch, they are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the various challenges they face, they still are an eager bunch that has the ultimate desire to learn.
As their first teacher, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
They don’t really have my support outside the classroom, and so I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure they are support inside my classroom.
My Project
At this point in the year my students need book bins and paint. Now, I know that these are two ends of the spectrum. My class loves being creative, as we do directed drawings at least once a week and need the paint and markers. These helps us become better illustrators as well as better writers. Creativity allows us to engage in details and express ourselves beautifully! I teach my Kinders that when we are listening to words, it should make us paint a picture in our minds. That’s what I want them to do not only with their pictures, but also their words while writing.
In order for them to become better writers, they must READ, and that leads me to the book bins.
I would love for them to have a spot for their books in our classroom. Currently, we don’t have have desks or chair pockets for them to keep their books they check out from the library, or books they are interested in our library. They keep the books on the table and it’s becoming a nightmare when all of them have books. My goal is to soon have a book bin for everyone, labeled with their numbers so that they can access their books whenever they complete their work early, or just want to simply read!
