My classroom serves as a space for students to work on various subjects and also as a safe haven for those who need to regulate their emotions. Most of my students face behavioral challenges, and I've observed that engaging in artistic activities and games often helps them calm down and refocus. The benefits of having art supplies available include: providing an enhanced learning environment because students often need various supplies for their coursework, and having these on hand would streamline their study process. Art and playing games can help with emotional regulation. Art has proven to be a calming influence for many students, providing a positive outlet for their emotions. Artistic activities can help students center their thoughts, making it easier to return to academic tasks, and can help foster inclusivity. Having supplies available ensures that all students have equal access to materials, regardless of their home situations. In order to provide all that I have described, I am asking for colored pencils, crayons, markers, gel pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, art caddy, plush stuffed toys, baskets for continued organization, and a Scrabble game.
