This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A world without art would be a very mundane place to live. Fortunately for me, my students are bursting with creativity and vivid imaginations. I want to help nurture the “if you can dream it, you can achieve it” attitude, and this starts with art.
Art can open up the door to learning for some students that regular teaching does not.
Many, if not most of my students, have not had the luxury of visiting a museum, so their vision of art is limited to scissors, crayons and glue. I would like to give them the ability to experiment with different materials and let them see what their hands are capable of creating.
The supplies I am requesting include oil pastels, mixing trays, canvases, paper, sharpies and modeling clay. These materials combined with what I already have in the classroom will allow students to create sculptures, paint on canvases, mix colors, as well as draw, making them feel like real artists.
These students are our future and we need their creative minds to move forward in this world. Any donation to help bring these supplies to the classroom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for all of your help!
