My Students

My students are always asking questions. I would like to cultivate their sense of wonder through inquiry based learning.

Kindergarten children are curious and thrive on self discovery.

Learning to ask questions and being able to seek and find the answer gives a sense of accomplishment and the desire to learn more. When my students find the answer to questions they have been asking or are able to write words that make sentences, their sense of pride shows through their written work and oral language when sharing.

I would like to further develop their reading, writing and math skills by providing hands on activities that are student driven.

My Project

I am developing math and literacy centers focusing on inquiry based activities. I am new to teaching kindergarten and am looking to create center activities using loose parts to show different ways to come to the same solution. Letter stamps using various materials and sensory letters to develop strong reading and writing skills. (R.K.1-3) (W.K.103)

It is important to foster their sense of creativity and imagination.

I would like the kids to have real world experiences by running a restaurant or a farmer's market through imaginative play using math skills with a focus on number sense and further develop their speaking and listening skills. (K.CC.A) (SL.K.1)
