My students need markers, mosaic pieces, and a print making to enhance their illustrations during writing!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Kruske's classroom raised $412
This project is fully funded
I am a fifth grade teacher in a new charter school. Our school was developed for refugees from war-torn countries predominantly Somalia, Kenya and Myanmar. All of our students qualify for free lunches; the majority of my students are English Learners. Our school is a charter school, meaning we are a tuition-free public school offering a unique educational program. Our teachers and staff are sensitive to the diverse needs of our students. Many students arrive at our school speaking little or no English. With our intense math and Language Arts program our goal is to help these children succeed in school and in life and not be "left behind.
With the recent budget cuts, schools in California are unable to provide supplies that enhance students learning from the creative side. We have bare minimum supplies for the classroom. Due to a lack of supplies, art and music are practically nonexistent at our school, despite the state standards mandating those topics be taught!
My students desperately need to express themselves creatively. Most of my students do not have the opportunity to paint, draw, or sculpt. Their families do not have the money to buy the resources or to enroll the students in after school activities. I am requesting a set of illustration markers, a class set for stamp making, and mosaic foam tiles. With the markers, students will be able to make illustrations for stories, comics, and poems. Stamps will be used to create stationary, when learning the elements of writing various letters. In addition, the mosaic tiles will help the students learn other forms of visual art.
With your generous contribution, my students will experience art in a a new way. They will have the opportunity to make stamps and create illustrations for their writing. Your donation will provide fun, engaging opportunities for students in need.
