it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a diverse group of students from the most diverse city in our country. Because of this, many of my students come from various countries and speak many different languages. Some of my students have been in the country for less than a year, but are eager to learn and grow as a part of our community. Our school is part of a feeder pattern of a Title I school.
Last year a lot happened in September so our students had a rough start to the beginning of the school year.
Fortunately, our kids are resilient and were able to bounce back despite this setback.
I'd love to create a classroom that students remember for years to come, because of the many cultures, languages, and books that they were introduced to.
My Project
There are so many opportunities for our students to be creative and link the arts to their content, as well as real life experiences.
We would like to use a Circuit Machine to create Holiday cards for other kids in our community that may be in a shelter, hospital or just not at home during the Holidays.
After reading books about Kindness, I will have students decide who they would like to make Holiday Cards and stickers for. We will then learn about the different community helpers in our neighborhood and how they will help us get our gifts to the kids who need them. After sending off the cards and stickers, we will design Kindness Counts shirts to wear and remind kids to help others in any way that they can.
But the fun doesn't stop there! We will then create and design stickers for our own Kindness Journals. Students will keep track of all the kind things that they see or participate in. At the end of the school year students will then make a commitment to continue a kindness act that they observed in their journal during the summer!
What a way to keep the learning going! Help create kind hearts in our kind kids!
