Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
After participating in a teacher book study and reading How to Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci, I have created a creativity corner in my classroom. This corner displays famous art my students like, classical music plays throughout the day, a fountain runs, hydroponics gardens grow, and students go here to get the creative juices flowing. Students in my class have shown interest in doing their own art, building, and planting more classroom and garden plants in this creativity area.
My students are studying an artist, their lives and works.
They requested I add art to the creativity corner and I bought some replicas such as Mona Lisa and Starry Night, but some students would like to replicate their artist's work on their own. We're requesting the oil and water painting supplies, paper, canvas, etc. for this purpose.
Some of my students are looking to add STEM activities and building activities to the creativity corner. These can include puzzles, magnetic building blocks, legos, and marble tracks. These activities will get the creative juices flowing and help students access more parts of their brains.
My class, as a whole, loves plants and agriculture. I would like to order potting soil and the little hydroponics fish tanks, so we can add some live plants and animals to the creativity corner. Live plants and animals will help liven up the creativity corner where students have already started some seedlings they will need to transplant.
With the above mentioned items, I hope to enhance the creativity corner for the students in my classroom. My students currently love our creativity corner and have taken part in voicing their wants to enhance the corner with things that align with their passions. I would love and appreciate your help in making my students' creativity dreams come true.
