This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students may have reached middle school without taking a reading, art, or writing project home that they were able to create from start to finish. They are students who may be in a formal school setting or who can be creative for the first time. I want my classroom to cultivate that experience for them in a way that they may not have been able to before. Learning a new language is about speaking it, but it’s about seeing it in many different forms: drawing it, feeling it through movement, and having a safe and comfortable place to express all of this. We need bleacher seats, bilingual books, and organizer carts.
