This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students miss being in school. They're a wonderful group of individuals who enjoy learning and miss all the elements of being in the classroom as much as I do. They are trying their best to do online work because they are eager to learn, and their parents try and support them as best as they can. While they're enjoying the online work, they miss working with good old fashioned supplies such as paper, pencils, crayons, markers and books.
My Project
I'm asking for a set of crayons, a sketchbook and a copy of Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing for each student in my class. When I teach this fun and engaging book in my classroom I do a number of fun activities with the students where they can imagine some of the funny scenes from the story. I'd love for them to be able to do this at home and then share their creations via our online platforms. I'd also like to teach character traits with these items and have students choose a character, draw their portrait, label it with character traits and evidence. Being able to do an actual paper and pencil/crayon project will provide a sense of normalcy for my students and bring them some joy while at home.
