Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love working with my ENL students because they bring a unique and diverse perspective to the classroom. Their drive to learn, adapt, and grow is inspiring, and it reminds me every day of the power of education to create new opportunities between cultures. I admire their resilience, as many of them navigate the challenges of mastering a new language and adjusting to a new country and environment.

The Cricut is a fantastic tool for supporting their learning in a hands-on, creative way.

It allows students to engage with language in a tactile and visual manner, which is especially beneficial for ENL learners who might be at different stages of language development. The Cricut can be used to create custom projects that help reinforce vocabulary, spelling, and sentence structure. For example, students could design posters with new vocabulary words, create flashcards, or even make personalized learning tools like charts and diagrams. These projects not only make learning more interactive but also help students connect with the material in a way that is engaging and personal.

Additionally, the Cricut fosters collaboration. ENL students often thrive when working together, sharing ideas, and learning from one another. Using a Cricut to work on group projects can create a sense of community, helping students practice communication skills, share cultural knowledge, and feel more connected to their peers. The visual and tactile nature of Cricut projects also supports different learning styles, making it easier for students to process and retain new language concepts.
