My Project

Our 6th grade Art class looks forward to using the kiln and creating a clay masterpiece to bring home and share with their families every year. The goal is for my students to have all the materials they need to make a beautiful peice of art. We have the clay, but our glazes are old and we only have a few colors to choose from.

I teach them the value of giving, as we do this project during the holidays.

As a middle school teacher I want my students to come into art class as a creative outlet. Social Emotional learning is important in our curriculum and art gives students a place to be themsleves, and socialize with their friends in a structured manner.

My students are unique in that they are coming to us from all social and socioeconomic backgrounds. Art is their elective and their time to get to know all their fellow students.
