My Project

At STEAM Academy our mission is to provide quality education, anywhere in the world, in the modality that best meets the needs of each student. This project will help young artists achieve their three-dimensional goals and open up new worlds of possibilities for our art education program.

Working in clay has been proven to help children problem solve as they create art three-dimensionally.

My goal is to use these ceramic supplies to help build and broaden the art program at our school. The clay, ceramic tools and underglazes will contribute to students creating pinch pots, animal sculptures and most importantly learning how science and art are integrated through ceramic practices.

These materials could open up new possibilities and potential for the students who attend STEAM by giving them the opportunity to experiment with clay by building lesson plans appropriate for each grade level. These materials would also give me the opportunity to start an after school art club. Students who participate in the arts are less likely to receive disciplinary infractions, have a lower drop out rate, and are twice as likely to graduate college. Please consider my project and give the students of STEAM academy the opportunity to fall in love with clay.
