Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Providing diverse ways for students to demonstrate their understanding is crucial because it acknowledges the various way students learn and express their knowledge. Not all students excel in traditional assessments like written exams or essays. Some students thrive through visual arts, presentations, performances, or hands-on projects. Offering a variety of assessment methods ensures that every student has the opportunity to showcase their knowledge in a way that aligns with their strengths. This approach validates different forms of intelligence, and encourages deeper engagement with the material. Students are more likely to be motivated when they can express themselves authentically.

Creative options, in particular, can be incredibly beneficial for students who may struggle with conventional assessments or who possess unique talents.

Art supplies are fundamental to enabling these creative expressions. Donating to our classroom art supplies (clay, markers, felt, colored pencils) directly empowers me to facilitate projects that allow students to visualize concepts, build models, design presentations, or express their understanding through various artistic mediums. This not only enhances learning for students with artistic inclinations but also provides alternative pathways for students with learning differences or those who are simply more engaged when they can create. By supporting our classroom you are investing in a more dynamic and inclusive classroom where every student has the tools to succeed and demonstrate their knowledge in meaningful and imaginative ways.
