Creative Writing Supplies

Help me give my students creative writing supplies. My students love to write letters and deliver them to other students.

My Students

I have the pleasure to teach 18 of the sweetest 4 and 5-year-old pre-kindergarten students. The students qualify for the program due to special needs, academic challenges, and family financial distress. Our school is a Title I school on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC.

Several of my students have special learning needs, and all have financial challenges making ends meet at home.

But, they all come to school ready to learn and love every minute of it. Our school is fortunate to have several garden boxes where students help plant and harvest crops. Hands-on learning is essential for giving students a sense of accomplishment. Your donation will help my students in the classroom and broaden their experiences.

My Project

My students love to write letters and then role-play "Postal Worker" to deliver the letters to their friends. The Writing Process encourages a variety of literacy skills including: expressive language, letter identification, phonological awareness, along with fine motor skills and social interactions with classroom peers.

Many of my students speak a language other than English and some have been born in other countries.

Writing and drawing connects these students more than words can. A student can receive a drawing from a classmate and instantly know what the peer is communicating. The smiles are priceless!
