This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have taught in the South Bronx for the past fourteen years. During this time, the demands on students and teachers have been steadily increasing while resources have been decreasing.
My 3rd and 4th graders love school and are excited about learning, but most of them come from struggling households.
My school understands that education is the easiest way to break the cycle of poverty and is dedicated to helping all children become future leaders. We strive to create learning environments that encourage all students to reach their highest potential with the hope of them becoming both successful and productive citizens in their communities and beyond.
My Project
COVID-19 has changed how we function in the classroom. Students are limited in their interaction being that they must remain six feet apart and important manipulatives that allow hands-on, visual learning cannot be shared any longer. These new restrictions have made the classroom a little boring.
The Cricut Maker can help bring some fun back into the class.
It will allow us to create materials to use for making creative art projects. We can also make personalized manipulative packets to help students grasp abstract math concepts using concrete materials. Finally, we will be able to create personalized puzzles and individual games for added fun.
