Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach self-contained high school students.

We reside in a Title I school, which means there is very little funding, yet we have such a high need for supplies!

My students are all amazing, unique, loving and energetic humans! They are vibrant and brave, active and creative. My students have a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ED, Down Syndrome, LD, and multiple disabilities. I have verbal students as well as nonverbal students. All of my students have difficulty with communication skills, social skills, and struggle to process sensory information.

Our class is bare and supplies are minimal. My students deserve the best, and at the very least deserve the items deemed necessary to help them self-regulate, de-stress and provide imperative sensory stimulation.

My Project

We are excited to use the Cricut Tools we are requesting to help us improve our classroom and get our decorations and activities on the walls! We need help getting these tools so that we can do that: vinyl sheets, cutting mats, roll holder, scoring mats, transfer tape, chipboards, pens, scoring stylus, scraper and felt sampler."

My students are each unique and extremely creative.

These Cricut Tools will help my students expand their imaginations while enabling them to contribute to making their own classroom come to life. My students are beyond creative. I have found that students enjoy learning when they feel pride in what they are using.

The Cricut would allow us to design, create and turn our learning materials into a personalized learning space.

The possibilities of using our Cricut are endless! Some examples of what we will be able to do are: custom binders, bulletin board, classroom decorations, individualized pencil pouches, personalized shirts so we do not get lost on our class trips, note cards (we are working on writing by writing to pen pals and writing thank you cards), making items (personalized water bottles, pillows, Autism Awareness items) we can sell in our program special ed store that we will sell in the school which will go towards events such as Autism Awareness celebration pizza party for our kiddos).

My students can bring their creativity to life by making their own personalized materials and as we work to help them with their ideas for their classroom yearly projects (vocational project, senior project) we can help make their thoughts a reality with the Cricut Tools.
