Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

These art items will allow my students the opportunity to express what they are thinking in a different medium and allow us space to have their artwork dry without the risk of it being changed by classmates. The paint is something that is limited in supply in our room, so they are unable to freely create with it and the water smocks can double as water table accessories as well as an art smock to protect their clothes. By having more resources, they will be able to explore more ways to create.

My goal for this project is to amp up our art center which is mainly crayons and construction paper at the moment.

My students are always wanting to draw and create art in different ways: pipe cleaners, buttons, shapes, cotton balls, etc. I would love to help them start experiencing painting at an early age as it is both textually different and also just a different way for them to create art.
