This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is a high diversity, with 80 percent of students coming from low-income families. These materials will be used in my art classroom and will allow my students to be creative thinkers. As we do have supplies currently, I teach the entire elementary school (K-5), and as you can imagine we go through materials quickly! These are supplies that will benefit all of my learners, and help create an inclusive art classroom. Items such as oil pastels will help learners with diverse needs, especially those who are working on fine motor skills. These will allow students to explore color theory in their art before moving on to painting. The rug allows my younger students a place to sit and learn, before moving to tables to begin their artwork.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
