My students need comfortable spaces to create. With these bean bags, saucer chairs, and husband pillows, we will be able to collaborate and create masterpieces!
My students attend a suburban school right outside of Columbia, SC. We have a very diverse population. These students represent all different races, genders, and income populations. As a member of this community, I live among them, and am so proud to be a member of this community.
Theatre will be offered to my students for the first time in a while this upcoming school year.
Theatre is an inclusive fine arts that welcomes all students. I will be teaching a class of sixth grade, two classes of mixed seventh and eighth grade, and a modified class specifically for special needs students.
In order to prepare, I hope to have a flexible seating classroom. The theatre classroom should be flexible anyway, and with flexible seating we will be able to move freely around the classroom to create our projects. The items that I have asked for can easily be moved around even on a class by class basis so that we can have the ultimate in flexible seating.
My Project
The ideal theatre classroom will be comfy and cozy. The room should invite students to collaborate and to express themselves in a positive manner. Using these flexible seating options will allow the students' creativity to shine!
Just picture students collaborating around a pub table, and working on a monologue while sitting in a comfy bean bag chair.
Students will sprawl out on the floor with their comfy pillows and rehearse in cozy saucer chairs.
With these materials, the creativity of my students will shine! Utilizing these flexible seating options will assist in their personal creations.
Theatre has been the thing that these students never knew they needed in their lives and this way they will be able to perform to their capabilities!
