Creative Storytelling through Video Production

My students need headset mics to complete audio/video recording and editing projects. These students don't have their own recording headsets that they can supply, and it is beyond my classroom budget of $100.

My Students

Students in our district come from a rural, working-class community. Many of them have never experienced anything outside the bubble of their little village and school. They have tremendous school spirit and pride.

I want to diversify their experiences via technology, as most will never have the means or desire to travel outside the familiar spot they call home.

Our school serves students in grades 9-12, with a total enrollment around 400 students. More than a third of our students are from low-income households.

My Project

Students in TV Productions and A/V Media classes have a few shared digital cameras and software for editing audio and video. We do a variety of projects that all incorporate story telling. Currently, students are challenged with the editing process. Most can't supply their own headset mics and I do not own a class set.

Students consume so much digital video these days, teaching them how to effectively communicate a message is a skill that will serve them regardless of their post high school career path.
