My students need smaller square tables that can be moved easily throughout the space. Our current tables are large rectangles, very heavy and hard to move.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. They are curious about how things work and love to share their own ideas. What I may think about a topic is completely different from them. They help me to look at and learn things from a different perspective. In our classroom we are always learning. Truly, they are my inspiration!
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During choice times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are only using the tables for lunch and small group instruction. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when I have moved a table closer to their choice work area. They are more engaged, and get more work completed. Unfortunately our current tables take up a lot of space and don't give us the freedom to move them into the other choice areas in the classroom. With these tables we will be able to create flexible learning spaces that coordinate with our studies. As we move to a new study, the smaller tables will allow us to transform our space so our children will become immersed in what we are studying.
