My Students

I am a K-5 elementary school counselor split between 2 different elementary schools.

The books that I am requesting are all centered around teaching and building social and life skills. My students need colorful, engaging picture books to start the new school year. I think it is an important part of a student's educational experience for us to introduce, model and reinforce positive social behavior. My responsibility is to make sure that the students have the tools they need to be successful in school and give them skills they need to become good citizens.

My Project

My students need colorful, engaging picture books that are carefully selected to introduce and reinforce necessary social skills. These thought-provoking stories focus on critical issues the my students face everyday such as divorce, peer pressure, relational aggression, conflict resolution, and tolerance. Students will learn character education in classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling.

The resources that I am requesting will introduce and reinforce many different activities throughout the school year.

This donation will make a difference by providing picture books that are necessary when doing character education lessons/activities. Life-skills are an important component of a well-rounded education. By making this donation you are helping these students become more successful in school and in life. Thank you in advance for helping provide resources for my guidance program.
