My Students

I'm so excited for this school year! The first grade teachers prepared this group to work hard every day in second grade. Our school environment is warm and promotes creativity. Students understand they are working every day to build the foundation for their bright futures.

The goal of this project is to integrate arts into my instruction to engage students while simultaneously providing opportunities for meaningful learning.

Arts integrated instruction will allow my students the opportunity to be creative and make new connections. Furthermore, arts integration has been shown to increase student achievement.

My Project

These materials will provide my students with the opportunity to make hands-on creative connections for two of our reading units. The solar system craft will be a fantastic way to integrate science, reading, and art. The basket weaving project will integrate reading, history, and art. In the past, I have always used videos and photos to provide my students with a chance to see and make real-world connections to our themes. The saying is that a picture is "worth a thousand words." I can only imagine how meaningful making a tangible project centered around these themes will be for my students!
