This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
For some students, reading does not come as easy as it does for others. My goal is to make reading fun and enjoyable for even the most challenged reader!
The group of students that I work with are very talented youth.
They attend one of the nations top performing art's schools. Students are accepted based solely on their talent in the arts. Therefore, students come to us with varying academic abilities. The group of students that I work with are a group of diverse learners, who require extra supports in the Academic classroom to be successful. Extra supports are put in place to help them succeed not only in the arts, but also in academics. Many of my students as come from families that struggle financially. Thought their parents want to be able to supply supports, they may not be able to afford them.
My Project
We need books to read along with books on tape so that they can mark the books as they read along. These supplies will help to improve my students reading experience. My students often struggle as readers and require additional supports to be successful. They are unable to highlight and mark in the books provided by their classroom teacher.
However, by having additional copies of these books that I may supply to my challenged readers, they will be able to mark, highlight, and take notes in these books, so that they will leave the reading experience with a better level of comprehension of what they have read.
These donations will make a difference because they will directly impact and help to improve my students reading experience.
These books will give my students the extra support and assistance they need to be successful!
