My Project
Students will learn different types of printmaking and create prints using plexiglass for etchings, Gelli plates, and linoleum blocks. They will then use paint pens, embroidery thread, needle felting, stenciling, collage, ink and a variety of different mediums to add color, mark making and texture on top of their prints turning it into a mixed media artwork.
Combining a variety of mediums with printmaking, where they have multiple prints to experiment with is a great way to teach students to think outside the box and try new things, so that they get comfortable layering techniques and mediums adding texture and depth to their artwork, creating artwork that pops and really stands out.
Using many mediums together lets students become familiar with many different mediums that they usually don't have access to. It also gets them to think differently about always using traditional mediums. My goal is to show them that the possibilities are endless when they think outside the box and try new things. They also add a fun twist to basic print making techniques and create some amazingly creative artwork. I can't wait to see the creative art that my students will produce with these mediums!
