My Students
My fourth graders are a diverse group of students. I have several special education students, as well as general education students. Some are working below grade, some are working on grade level and some are above grade level learners. No matter what level they are, they should all feel confident and excited and important every day.
My classroom is a place that is welcoming, where my students' imaginations grow wild and they are encouraged to reach their fullest potential on a daily basis.
As students enter my classroom, I want them to feel that they are in a fun, safe place to learn and to be able to take risks and feel empowered.
My Project
My students need copper foil tape, batteries and the Circuit Stickers Educator Pack to begin to integrate art with electronics in a Makerspace atmosphere within our classroom. The Educator starter kit will provide all the materials to guide my students through making basic LED circuits, DIY paper switches to add to their creative designs. A paper circuit is a low-voltage electronic circuit that is created on paper using the copper tape, LEDs and coin-cell battery power source.
Creating paper circuits is a good way to teach the basics of electricity in a makerspace atmosphere and teaching how circuits function while bringing their artwork to life.
The students will begin experimenting with simple circuits in a fun, collaborative way. Circuit stickers from the Educator Pack will be used to teach authentic creation and use of electricity and circuit design.
