My two special education classrooms service up to 20 students with special needs in Kindergarten through 12th grade. All the students have difficulty acquiring academic skills, social skills, and learning positive behaviors. In order to help facilitate learning in a way that is effective and meaningful, sometimes alternate seating is helpful.
Students with ADHD and sensory needs need opportunities to move during the presentation of a lesson and during independent work time.
The swinging chairs and ball chairs will allow the students to move while listening to the teacher's instructions and independently completing their work. The Trampoline will be an opportunity for the students to take a break from working and get some wiggles out. Diffusing essential oils in the classroom will provide an atmosphere of calming scents.
