Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a mixture of second to fifth grade students from a low socio economic elementary school with less than 400 students. They are enthusiastic about the opportunity to show their artistic skills. They genuinely have an interest in art and would like a place to come together with others with a similar interest.
Creating a small community with students who are passionate about art will be rewarding to me and all the little creative minds that await for an art club.
My Project
The supplies I'm requesting will be used by the first time ever art club at our campus. The pencils, paper, and paints will give the students a different experience because most of them probably will not have the opportunity to take outside art classes. By implementing an after school art club will allow them to acquire or strengthen their skills by providing the necessary art tools.
I have read that children who engage in the arts learn to think critically, creatively, and it gives them the freedom to show their talent.
I am excited to see how allowing them to express their emotions through art will motivate and help higher their self-esteem.
