My students need a boom box, musical instruments and a variety of art supplies to explore a variety of different sensors.

My Students
Do you remember how exciting and fun it was to play a new instrument or to create a master piece to take home to mom? My students haven't had the opportunity to do either yet.
My students are kindergarten and first grade students who are severely intellectually challenged.
They attend a public school for students with severe challenges. A lot of my students come from family who have limited resources; therefore, buying school supplies can be a hardship on the family.
My Project
If I was so fortunate to receive the musical instruments and iPod Dock, my students would be exposed to a visual, auditory, and sensory experience that they would be missing otherwise. The art supplies I have requested would also allow my students to expand their sensory and creative limits. The supplies requested would enhance their fine motor skills, helping them in the future to be able to eat independently, brush their teeth and even write.
This project will enhance my students school experience and enhance their ability to function in the community.
The musical instruments will teach the children how to follow directions and to count to the beat. My students don't learn like the typical child. They need lots of repetition to get the concept; therefore, making learning fun is imperative. The craft supplies will allow the children to tap into their creative side and expose them to different textures.
