Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This center will help kindergarten students develop early literacy skills. Students will first engage in listening to age-appropriate and curriculum based read-alouds such as fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and other stories with popular themes and characters. They will then be able to reenact these stories cooperatively with a partner on the felt board.
Students will practice standards such as identifying characters, settings, problems, solutions, beginning, middle, and end of stories.
As the year progresses, students will learn to include key details and summarize as they orally retell and write about their felt stories.
