This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 1st graders are eager learners who love to explore new concepts in different ways. I have found that engaging them in mini-creative projects enhances their educational skills while also making them feel the joy of learning. I can see their smiles as I mention it's time for "creative learning." With these tools I am hoping to receive I will be able to help the students especially as materials run scarce and in these times of need parents are finding it difficult to supply these items. We will engage in science and social studies learning experiences such as making Earth and it's rotation, USA symbols, and more. We will also be active participants in a journey through creative reading and role playing. The students will create masks for role playing sessions with their scissors, glue, crayons, and colorful bright paper.

Happy Learners is what I seek to have in my classroom and these tools for learning will make the process of creation and discovery meaningful to them: while making them smile along the way.

Other creations will include making concept/topic books such as books about animals, jobs, pets, and more. They will use the scissors to cut and paste visual images. The crayons will help them become illustrators at work. We will further enhance their creative ways by having them share their projects and creative experiences with other class in their grade level as a museum of sorts. These creations will stimulate their sense of self-esteem and knowledge which will lead to "happy learners."
