I am a second year NYC Teaching Fellow who moved from Utah to New York City in order to fill a need in the Bronx for well-educated, creative, and passionate teachers for poor performing schools. I enter my new year with a lot of enthusiasm, a big heart, and great desire to make a difference. What I am lacking is materials to provide top quality teaching activities for my Third Grade Bi-lingual Special Education students. I would like to create quality learning centers in my classroom for reading, publishing, creating, exploring, and expressing. I want to tap into students' strengths by providing stimulating areas to get up close and personal with their areas of interest, and maybe to spark new interests. I would appreciate supplies to make these centers interesting and amazing. I am focusing this proposal on two of the centers: exploring and expressing. I am lacking the supplies and the resources to flesh out these two centers as I envision. For the exploring center that will focus on Science and the environment, I would love a worm and butterfly collection to aid in Science exploration. For the expression center I am hoping to get some quality puppets to introduce students to acting and expressing their ideas through drama. I want to provide my students with a quality education in the North Bronx area. I will appreciate any donations that caring donors wish to share.
