The uniqueness of my students revolves around the many personalities they bring to our class. The various life and home experiences they have stimulate the questions that are asked, the information that is shared among all, and the creative and imaginative learning that is discovered. My students are an unique and special group that I thoroughly enjoy being around and learning with and from.
For the past two years, our students have learned how to be flexible in their learning.
Without notice we have transitioned from distance learning to school and back again. While this tends to stress out adults, the students tend to take it in stride. In regards to learning, for some, the past two years have not provided much setbacks. For others, the setbacks have been more extent. The main reasons for these setbacks is their lack of home, parental, or technological support that they have available to them which is out of their hands.
My Project
The best learning experiences allow students to manipulate their thinking in hands on ways that are meaningful and related to their world. The whiteboards allow all students to showcase their learning in math with grids, graphs, computations or in science as we draw diagrams and charts of our thinking.
The books being requested allows students to research those that impacted our lives, to explore the history and process of how our current world and inventions have come to be, and to be challenged with riddles and puzzles.
Along with this, the art resources allow students to demonstrate their learning through artistic and creative outlets whether through posters, models, color, artwork, etc. All these things allow students to find the joy of being in school while connecting their learning to their world and finding application to what is being studied.
