This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of first graders in a Title I school. They are each unique with different learning styles and interests. Despite their differences, they come to school each day with open minds and open hearts and are ready to tackle the day.
Their passion for learning and the desire to do well is what makes them so phenomenal.
My students are thinkers. They persevere and support each other when learning new concepts. They build each other up. They feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. These students have built relationships with not only me, but also with each other. In our classroom, we are like a family. We laugh together, grow together, and they encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
My Project
My students love to learn. To encourage learning during the” Covid-19” school closure, I sent home necessary supplies. In doing so, my students will be able to do online learning activities as well as educational assignments because they have the supplies needed to complete them.
Creative students need basic supplies.
However, in sending them home, it has depleted my classroom of the necessary supplies that are needed to start the next school year off on the first day. With your help in getting pencils, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, and construction paper, my students will be able to continue doing shoe-box reports, dioramas, mobiles, and interactive notebooks. By allowing them to complete hands-on projects, I am creating an atmosphere that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. In return, they are actively engaged in their learning and are making substantial learning gains.
