Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of my students come from Hispanic backgrounds. Our school is in a low income neighborhood where students may not necessarily be exposed to a variety of materials. Centers and stations are my students' favorite time of the day, and having fun, engaging, and hands-on centers will get them even more excited for learning.
"I love using those" is all I hear when they see my art bin come out of the closet.
It makes me so happy to see them excited to learn and be creative. With these materials, we can make those happy children even happier.
My Project
Being that this is my second year teaching, my art supplies have gone down. Since my kindergartners love doing arts and crafts, I incorporate it a lot into my lessons. For example, when we do addition in math, we create addition visuals using paint dots. Not only are they counting and adding, but doing this while using bright color paint will help them stay engaged.
Play dough is one of the most fun, engaging, and creative resource to use in the classroom.
My kids use play dough to express their thoughts. For example, in science we use play dough to create objects that are living and non living. It is crazy to see how much detail they can add with only using play dough!
