My students need building blocks and sensory supplies. I am requesting a large case of magnetic building shapes and sensory items for our sensory table such as kinetic sand.

My Students

My adorable students are part of a unique early intervention program for children with autism. These 3, 4, and 5 year old children are academically age appropriate, but tend to have areas such as social, and speech that need extra time and attention. The preschool class not only has a special education population, but also has general education students that attend everyday. This general education population serves as peer social and language models for our special education students. They learn side by side in preparation for Kindergarten. It's a fabulous program that helps to prepare our special education population as well as general education students for a successful Kindergarten year.

My Project

It takes a variety of teaching tools and materials to run a preschool class that not only accommodates the special needs of our students, but also challenges the typically developing population that joins us daily.

We are requesting the, "tools" such as large building blocks, sensory dough and kenetic sand, to help the staff run these highly motivating and sensory driven centers.

Our monthly themes and daily center rotations encourage our students to learn through a variety of outlets. These items will be used daily in our center rotations and in a variety of different ways. Our goal is to provide appropriate tools to each student based on their specific areas of need to let our students shine and demonstrate skills in a variety of settings/centers. These include art, fine motor, sensory, dramatic play, library, and academics. The items I have requested would be used in our fine motor, sensory, dramatic play and academic centers on a daily basis.

Please help enrich these center experiences for my preschool students. It is important for my students to experience the different modalities, textures and a variety of supplies during their preschool experience. This is their last year in preschool and we want them to shine!
