Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are nothing short of amazing! They are the reason why I stay at my school and get up every morning to give them my all. We are located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley in a zone where many families are facing economic hardships.
I have had the privilege of visiting some of my students at their homes and have discovered that many live in multiple dwelling houses.
Most students do not have access to technology at home. The last visit I made left me devastated. I found myself in a small room that a student calls home. I soon realized he didn’t have sufficient lighting nor a table to eat on. Regardless of his situation he still comes to school joyous and eager to learn. This is just one example of a student who is defying the odds, overcoming the achievement gap, and working hard to succeed academically. This is the difference we are making in our school community.
My Project
Calling all art enthusiasts! We are asking for some simple arts and crafts supplies to help add some pizzazz to our crafts. During the school year we make so many crafts for different themes we are learning. On top of that we always make creative gifts for our families and friends.
Please help us get gel pens, metallic markers, design, scissors, scrapbook paper, buttons, feathers, and so much more.
We will make these items last all year round. We will also learn how to take turns and share these items with kind words. Our classroom mindfulness will spread like glitter.
