Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are Writers, Directors, Performers and Creators. We are located in a hard-to-serve community that consists primarily of minorities.
Our classes and school consists primarily of a highly diverse, low income population located on the outer edge of Denver.
We are a suburban school with a strong community and we love to create. We want to start using STEM to begin developing our little actors, writers, scientists, directors, storytellers and journalists! All we need to reach this goal is you.
My Project
We want to further our students creative potential through STEM technology by opening up the world of movie making. The green screen allows out students to film "on location" without leaving our school.
We want to extend out learning in across subjects like writing and science by planning and shooting videos about those subjects.
We want to make movies!!!
For example, The green screen and audio gear allows us to record students doing a Newscast on location at Hurricane Irma and discuss the causes, weather changes and destructive force of a Hurricane. They can share their research in depth and visually right from the classroom. Using the same tech real life news anchors use, Students get to feel like real reporters!
Collaborating with our mild and moderate special education classes, we can create movie clips and stories from these students that they might not otherwise be able to achieve. Imagine getting to become a Princess high up in a castle in your very own fairy tale.
Using this technology, students can dig deeper into academic topics and create student lead visual art pieces. Exploring space, explaining how volcanoes erupt, sharing their cultures through history, or just feeling what it's like to be a sportscaster.... the sky's the limit.
