This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The motto at our school is “Supporting Student Strengths with Passion, Purpose, and Professionalism.” This project focuses on fostering students’ strengths by making sure they can access their curriculum in a fun and unique way by incorporating materials that can be adapted! Many of the Special Education students I work with come from limited resources and have behavioral, medical, and academic needs. Some of the students live in groups or foster homes, and it can be a challenge to find motivating activities that will engage them.

My Project
I love to incorporate creative art projects, so my students can have a hands on way to express themselves. In addition, students at this school access their curriculum in unique ways (VOD access, picture icons, gestures, AAC technology, vocalizations, verbalizations, communication core boards, and other functional methods of communication).
My students love to be creative and expressive themselves through art and these supplies will help them do just that.
Combining language activities with art projects is a fun and hands on way to make lessons even more meaningful. The art supplies will allow my students to explore their creativity and the access to teacher created lessons on Teachers Pay Teachers will help target specific communication goals. The additional supplies such as the counters, will help my students keep track of their communication attempts and progress towards meeting their speech targets.
