This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing four year-olds from the US and Mexico. Most are Spanish speaking or bilingual students. Our classroom is a bilingual pre-kindergarten class located on the Texas/Mexico border in what has been ranked the "Poorest City in America," but that is not what you will find in this class. You will find students who are eager to learn and excited about their first year of schooling. We take pride in creating an environment that gets students excited for learning to create a strong starting point to becoming lifelong learners. These students are sponges for learning and come in every day with the willingness and determination to learn and succeed.
My Project
This year I have seen an increase in interest in art with my prekindergarten students. During this time when students are coming out of quarantine and returning to face to face instruction , children are seeking ways to express themselves more than ever. We are spending more time with interest based learning to help our young learners get excited about education again and express their emotions in a healthy way. I am asking for a Space Saver Mobile Art Center to help students express their creativity independently with furniture that is the perfect size for them to be able to create independently.
