My Project
This year I am working to create a curriculum for an Intro to Engineering class. One of the topics I would like to cover is 3D modeling and computer aided design. My students would like to be able 3D print their designs after they have completed them.
Our current 3D printer is over 10 years old and is in disrepair and no longer functions.
My students built this very inexpensive 3D printer from a kit. We got a lot of mileage out of it. The students helped me to upgrade it several times and learned a lot about computer aided design and CNC processes. At this time, I think that it would make a lot more sense to buy a new 3D printer rather than attempt to repair the old one again. The technology has come a long way in 10 years!
