My students need an art easel to express their creativity and a chance to work with many mediums. They also need a teaching easel to enhance their learning experiences!
I have 18 enthusiastic and curious Pre-K students. For many of them, this is their first experience in school. They are 4 years old and full of energy. They are excited to be in school and are learning to become active participants of our classroom community.
We are fortunate to have a newly renovated classroom, but are lacking some basic necessities such as a teaching easel and an art easel.
The meeting area is the epicenter of our classroom. This is where we listen to stories, have discussions, sing songs and read poems. Our art center is lacking the most importance tool for my students to create what they imagine, an art easel.
My Project
Students learn best by doing, and an easel provides a way for students to practice several different important skills. Easels provide a unique sensory experience for students. Painting on an easel is a different experience than sitting at a desk. Easels help develop their motor skills and hand-eye coordination. A white board easel lets students use smooth markers to practice letters and numbers that they can easily erase. Working together at a double-sided easel creates a sense of partnership. Antsy children who do not like to sit for very long will appreciate the extra work involved in standing while participating in class. They can also discover through doing how to keep paint from dripping and how to make the marks that turn into the picture, letters or shapes they desire.
For this project, I am asking for your help in funding our easels.
These easels will help enhance their creativity and learning experience. Students will be able to easily work together in the meeting area as well as have a space of their own to transfer what they learned to their artwork.
