What high school student doesn't want to learn how to cook simple meals independently? Our "Cooking Corner" is in desperate need of small appliances!
My Life Skills Support High School students attend a public school in PA.
I have had from 12-16 students in my classroom, cooking weekly. When the students open the classroom door while cooking, all who walk down the hallway stop by, inquiring about taste-testing our creations. They LOVE to COOK as well as EAT their projects.
My Project
Cooking is messy and my special education students don't want to be covered by their "Cooking Corner" ingredients. The aprons will cover their clothing appropriately, with no arguing over the color as they are all the same. The burners will save us from using the single-burner borrowed from the chemistry department, which has no temperature/heat control. This will be much safer for recipes that require certain temperatures in preparation. What kitchen is complete without a blender? The blender will assist the students in making their favorite smoothies with healthy ingredients.
Who doesn't like to cook?
The other high schoolers seem to flock to our classroom on "Cooking Corner" day, as aromas circulate on our third floor of our high school. My Life Skills Support Students NEED these appliances and aprons in order to assist them in the preparation of simple foods in school.
