Help me give my students the ability to watch and discuss Social Emotional Regulation videos on an iPad during small group counseling and individual counseling.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are curious, full of life and excitement, and eager like thirsty sponges ready to soak up ways to be leaders of their own emotional and social learning. During individual and small group counseling, I often want to show my students a video to open up the conversation or to end a counseling session; however, I don't feel that it is appropriate or logistically possible for a small group of students to gather around my personal desk. Having an iPad would be an incredibly useful tool to have to show videos to students whether we are in my office or not.
Creating engaging and interactive counseling sessions (both one-on-one and small group settings) is extremely important to me.
Encouraging students to think, respond, and create in our time together tends to help them process their own emotions and personal autonomy over various situations. Having an iPad with a stylus would be an even more creative way to have them respond by writing or drawing during our sessions. I would be so excited to have these tools to better serve my students!
