Of course we caqn learn it! Just because we are special student with special learning challenges does not mean that we cannot meet the challenges set before us to achieve Common Core Standards.
These terrific kiddos are 3rd graders and 4th graders with learning challenges.
They often need more visual learning styles to achieve the desired result. These books allow them to feel successful reading with a partner or adult. The common core materials allow them to have repeated practice through dry erase methods that offer colorful assigments that reduce the stress of completing "another worksheet" while still expecting the same terrific results of writing with paper and pencil.
My Project
The We Both Can Read books are a wonderful way of pairing higher readers with lower readers. The left page is written at the grade level of the child. The right page is written well below the grade level. This provides opportunities to hear proper phrasing, grade level stories and vocabulary while allowing them to successfully participate in the reading.
The Dry Erase common core activities are very colorful and broken down into small tasks which feel less threatening and more achievable by these kiddos who often give up on themselves too easily.
Kids who feel they cannot achieve what is expcected of them often give up easily.
Frustration leads to behavior problems and lack of personal pride. My kids beam as they learn that they can be successsful with various learning materials and projects presented to them in creative ways. I love the materials offered here and I am so grateful to know that there are people and organizations that are willing to help provide these simple solutions to meet those needs.
